MY LIFE AS A MUSLIM MUM Farah HussainIllustration Sandrine Djellil @mellemimijolieONE WORLD 0 0 4 What does “One World” really mean? I wish it were like in Bob Marley’s song, “Let’s get together and be alright,” but un- fortunately it’s not always like that. Instead, humanity keeps starting EGO wars and throwing around power with tremendous blindness. One world for me is about wak- ing up! Looking around and caring for each other, nature, and all Beings that have the privilege of living on this planet. Why is that so difficult for so many of us? Well, I don’t know, but I feel like screaming STOP AND LOOK AROUND in a giant megaphone. We all have the right to be respected, re- gardless of our culture, beliefs, religion, col- our, or sexual preferences. But there is still hope, which comes with the next genera- tions, and the only way of making this work for the betterment of all and the future is with EDUCATION. Education is the most potent weapon we have and we need to invest in it. Schools should have specialised subjects on other cultures, so when kids grow up they don’t see difference but unity, a mirror, be- cause in the end, we all are born and die the same way. We are all the same, the uni- verse or whatever you believe in, does not see difference. It sees us, in the same way, no matter what. We have to be humble and capable of love and forgiveness, and most importantly, we need to leave our EGO be- hind when talking to each other and finding out that we don’t think or believe in the same things, which is FINE! One of the things that drives me crazy (but then again, I’m not an expert) is refugees... what is a refugee? Why should they be known as refugees if the world is supposed to be one without bor- ders? Is it that crazy to open our borders? Even if it is organised and has all the rules that implies. Why do we still have people living in camps and dying on the sea to avoid a reality that torments them and their families? I invite you to see a movie called “The Swimmers.” I loved it. Why do we still have children living in extreme poverty while billionaires get richer by the second? Some politicians will say I’m ignorant, but please, feel free to EXPLAIN it to me. In this issue, we bring kids together. They are the future and I believe we have come a long way in showing the next generations that we are stronger and more loved togeth- er. But still, there is a long road to travel. We explore new tools here to find out about our DNA and where we come from. I did it myself and was fascinated by the result. We talk about serious issues like genital mu- tilation, which is sadly still a reality. We also have an article about Indigo Kids – do you know if your child is an indigo kid? Find out on the following pages! In fashion, we bring the most remarkable trends and children that hold hands as they should. Maybe the kids will be our future “gurus”, teaching us what we cannot see. For family travel, we have ideas for a fantastic family road trip. Have a look through the following pages and let us know what you think – we are always open to your opinions and suggestions!
